Judy began designing handbags in the summer of 2003 purely by accident.
After seeing just the right handbag in a fashion magazine for an
outfit she was planning to wear to an upcoming engagement, she
found that there was no way it would arrive in time for the engagement.
On
a whim, she decided to try to create something herself. The bag
was a huge hit and everyone was asking, “Where did you get
that cute bag?” After making several more and seeing them
sell immediately to friends and co-workers, Glynnis Judy Designs
was born.
One
co-worker asked if she would be interested in donating a bag for
a local fundraiser. When the bag she donated was presented to the
highest bidder, the recipient said, “Oh, I don’t plan
on carrying this, I want to hang it on the wall as art!” While
her purses began with floral adornments, she has expanded her line
of one-of-a-kinds adding feathers, beads, ribbons, and even small
dolls.
Glynnis
was then included as one of the 6 handbag designers for the Greenville
Hospital Systems Handbags for Hearts Campaign.
Her
line of “Petal Purses” has been carried at several
gift shops in Charleston, as well as Jamestown, North Carolina,
and Greenville, South Carolina.
